The Joyful Doc Clinic Launches Donation Drive for Foster Kids

The Joyful Doc Clinic owner, Dr. Jodi Ritsch, recently launched a donation drive called “We Understand” to help supply new undergarments for teens and tweens in foster care in the Chippewa Valley area. The foster care community is seeking our help. Underwear, sports bras, and training bras are number one when it comes to the products most needed right now.

“A lot of kids entering foster care come in with just the clothes on their backs,” Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Inc. Foster Care Services Supervisor, Allison Novak said.

By building up a collection of undergarments, area social workers will be able to hand out these necessities to children when they are placed in a new home. May is Foster Care Awareness month, so now is the perfect time to make a generous donation to the drive.

The Joyful Doc Clinic is asking the community to drop off new undergarments, in various sizes for boys and girls in the age range from 10-18 years old.

Community members are welcome to stop by The Joyful Doc Clinic office with any donations between 9-5 Monday through Friday at 1906 Brackett Ave. The donation drive will run until Thursday, June 7, 2018.

National Doctor's Day - March 30th

Every year on March 30th we recognize our wonderful doctors, such as Dr. Jodi Ritsch! To honor her on this special day, Dr. Jodi tells us what inspired to be a doctor and why she loves her job: 

"I decided to become a doctor when I was 10 years old and found out that girls could be doctors.  I am the oldest of 5 and always enjoyed taking care of everyone.  My mom was a nurse and enjoyed caring for patients and I loved science and math so becoming a doctor was a natural fit." 

"I love being a doctor because I can partner with patients to improve their health.  It is an honor and a calling to have the privilege to care for others.  I started the Joyful Doc Clinic to help patients increase their own joy which is the ultimate in health."
