Professional-grade supplements

Do you take supplements daily but don’t really know what is in them?

Do you research your brand or just grab something off the shelf in a big box store?

I see many patients that have been helped by various over the counter supplements but I am amazed how often they don’t remember when or why they started to take something. Many don’t know anything about the ingredients listed. Supplements should be considered the same as medications, with potential for causing side effects or no effect if they are wrong dose or preparation.

Here are a few tips for finding high quality supplements that actually help you and your health.

Look for evidence of independent testing by an outside organization such as USP, GMP or CL.

Spend your money on a good multivitamin instead of buying multiple bottles and capsules.

Professional or pharmaceutical grade supplements utilize the methods that pharmaceutical companies use for making medications.

Higher cost does not guarantee that they are higher quality.

Be a detective when starting something new. Pay attention to if you have any side effects or if any thing is better while taking the new supplement. Give it a month or 2 to see if it seems to help. If it does not help, then go ahead and stop using it.

Look for expert advice, not just a website that pops up. This could be your physician, pharmacist, knowledgeable owner of a health food store, or a reliable website.

Vitamins from eating well is always preferred. If you are eating junk, no supplement will fix that.

Eat well, drink water, sleep well, find joyful activities. You are worthy of optimal health!
